Habitat Project 2023 - 2025
Planning is well and truly underway to deliver this community project over the next 18 months.
Our project has 3 themes - Finding Koalas - Planting Trees - Inspiring Community.
Finding Koalas - is the hard part. We will rely on reporting from individual landholders and local residents. Once reports are received we will investigate potential populations and their corridors via use of out thermal drone technology - utilising CSIRO methodology.
Planting Trees - is also pretty hard. We are researching suitable eucalypt species across the Downs and successful planting methodologies.
Inspiring Community - is probably the most important part of our project. We aim to leave a lasting project legacy. We aim to involve local communities. We want to show local residents how to use our drone technology for their own properties. We want to assist local residents to know what eucalypt species is suitable for koalas in their immediate locale. We want to engage the wider community to support the preservation and promotion of existing and new koala habitat.
WE WANT TO INSPIRE OUR COMMUNITY TO LOVE KOALAS AS MUCH AS WE DO.
